I was contacted recently by an aspiring voice actor who wanted to read one of my short story on his Youtube channel… basically make a podcast of it. So of course I said yes. I was so very interested in hearing the rendition and emotions and interpretation and all those types of things he could suffuse to my work.

And I’ve had a lot of fun listening to it. It’s really different having someone act/read a story and just voicing it in my head. The words are suddenly not mine anymore and I got to forget I was the author.

The story he chose: Execution under the Midday moon

It’s a dark fantasy piece in medieval inspired setting, with a good dose of grim magic, not my usual world building, but I had an idea… and I ended up really liking the world. In fact I have thought about it quite a bit and have expended it so that one day I hope to write a whole novel in that setting. In this story, we follow Lelio, back after a long absence to the kings’s castle, through the streets of his town as an execution is taking place and all he wants is to get away…

Here it is for all to hear, though I should warn that it isn’t for the faint of heart, it’s about executions after all, but all of the violence is justified. Please enjoy!
